𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙚-

Jatayu Earth Center, also known as Jatayu Nature Park or Jatayu Rock, is a park and tourism center at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district of Kerala. It stands at an altitude of 350m (1200ft) above the mean sea level.

The Jatayu bird is mentioned in the Ramayana. It is told in the Ramayana that when Ravana was kidnapping Sita ji and taking her to Lanka, then the bird Raja Jatayu heard the call of Sita Mata and tried to save her. But Jatayu was killed by Ravana. The locals who live here say that when Jatayu died, his body fell on this place. This big statue of Jatayu is built here in his memory.

This bird survived till Lord Rama returned. And the same Jatayu bird (vulture) had told Lord Rama that Ravana has taken Sita ji towards the south.

   Jatayu Nature Park holds the distinction of having the world's largest bird sculpture, which is of the Jatayu. The sulpture measures (200 feet (61 m) long 150 feet (46 m) wide, 70 feet (21 m) in and occupies 15,000 square feet (1,400 m2) of floor area). It was sculpted by Rajiv Anchal.The statue shows a bird with one wing  broken. He is lying on the ground in an injured state.

 The statue is a representation of a legend, and symbolizes the protection of women, and their honor and safety. This bird teaches us the lesson of sacrifice.
